Palm Springs Weekend Gateway

Palm Springs is the perfect girl’s weekend getaway trip! It’s also a great place for a bachelorette party, a weekend with family or friends, or just a great place to relax and unwind. There are lots of great places to stay, so much great food, and something for everyone to do from the art lover, outdoor lover, to the party animal. The perfect time to go is in the summer when the pool parties are popping, but winter isn’t too shabby, with cooler more tolerable desert temperatures. Here’s a quick rundown on my Palm Springs girl’s weekend getaway itinerary.

Palm Springs Weekend Getaway Itinerary:

Getting to Palm Springs

Everyone flew into LAX, and we then drove from Los Angeles to Palm Springs which is about a 2 hour drive. There is also the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP), which is a closer option to fly into however, LAX has more flight options.

The Saguaro Hotel Palm Springs

The Saguaro was where we stayed for the weekend. It was a good location and had a really good restaurant, spa, and beautiful pool/ outdoor spaces. The hotel has the classic Palm Spring look, with vibrant colors and retro neon decor. All the public spaces were really beautiful places to snap that “Palm Springs” picture with all the colors surrounding you, palm springs trees everywhere, and mountains in the backdrop. However, I would say the room itself was subpar and not as impressive compared to the rest of the hotel. We did get free drink vouchers and bike rentals as part of the hotel stay. The pool does host pool parties where you can get day passes to enjoy the amenities if you are not staying at the hotel.

Breakfast at Farm

Farm is located in the town area which has lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. It’s a great place to walk around and explore in Palm Springs. This is a traditional Provencal-style authentic French restaurant in a garden setting surrounded by lots of greenery. Walk-ins are only for breakfast and lunch and reservations are recommended for dinner.

A Day Exploring Joshua Tree National Park

After breakfast, we drove to Joshua Tree National Park, which is about an hour drive. You can easily spend a day at this beautiful park and cover the major sights including some short hikes and spectacular views, which we did. I highly recommend doing this if you want to add some nature/outdoors to your trip. If you have the time for it, be sure to start early to be able to see the main areas of the park. We covered Key’s Views, Skull Rock, Jumbo Rocks, Cholla Cactus Desert, and Arch Rock Trail all in a day! I have a full blog post on what to see/do in Joshua Tree National Park.

Drinks at El Jefe

El Jefe is a cute Mexican restaurant located at The Saguaro. We grabbed some drinks (with our free drink vouchers) and appetizers before heading out to dinner. There’s lots of cute outdoor space here to lounge around and even play games by the pool.

Dinner at 4 Saints

If you’re looking for a fine dining experience with amazing food, atmosphere, and views, this is the spot! 4 Saint’s is a fancy rooftop dinner with mountain views (named after the 4 surrounding mountain peaks). I highly recommend making reservations. This place was so good!

Brunch at The Tropicale

The Tropicale is a great brunch spot with lots of food options and exotic drinks! There is seating indoors as well as a beautiful outdoor patio area.

Moorten Botanical Garden

If you’re a plant lover, this is worth checking out! The Moorteen Botanical Garden is a cactarium, nursery, and botanical garden. There is a $5 admission to enter. You can stroll through this botanical garden which is not too big, featuring lots of succulents and desert plants. There is an area to purchase some plants and a beautiful greenhouse.

Popsicles Display

There’s lots of funky art throughout Palm Springs. One thing that’s a quick stop off the road is John Cerney’s Popsicle Art located at 605 Sunny Dunes Road.

Massage at The Saguaro Spa

We decided to get a last-minute massage because a girl’s trip just isn’t complete without a massage. Let me just say, it was one of the best ones I’ve had! We happened to just ask the hotel for availability at their spa (wasn’t anything fancy) but everyone loved their massages and they were reasonably priced too! Just book an appointment in advance.
